Misty Freeman Lands 2010 Diamond Award Nomination



NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (May 12, 2010) – Singer/songwriter Misty Freeman was greeted with news that she has received her first Diamond Award nomination. The nominees were announced last week in the May 2010 issue of SGN Scoops Digital, and Misty was nominated for Favorite Female Soloist.

“WOW! I am so excited about this nomination,” mentioned Misty. “Thank you to everyone who placed a vote for me. I truly am honored that you would think of me enough to nominated me for Favorite Female Soloist!”

Misty is joined in the category by such popular Southern Gospel and Inspirational Country artists Janet Paschal, TaRanda Greene, Christy Sutherland, and Charlotte Ritchie.

“It really is an honor for me to be mentioned in the same category as such talented artists like Janet, TaRanda, Christy and Charlotte,” said Misty.

Fans can now vote for their favorites from the Top 5 ballot. The 2010 Diamond Awards will once again take place at the Branson Gospel Music Convention.  The show will take place on Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Branson, Missouri at the Branson Convention Center.  The awards program will precede the Thursday evening concerts and will begin at 6:00 p.m.

The Freemans Take Home 2 SGM FanFair Awards


NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (May 7, 2010) – Southern Gospel favorites The Freemans took home two SGM FanFair Awards last night.

The popular family group was awarded Favorite Song for their smash-hit single “Three Rugged Crosses” (written by Marty Funderburk and Ricky Funderburk). In addition, beloved vocalist and Southern Gospel mainstay Chris Freeman was awarded Favorite Alto at the fan-based awards show.

Darrell Freeman of The Freemans said, “We are so honored to have won these two awards. ‘Three Rugged Crosses’ has been a great song for our group, and fans and friends all over the country continue to tell us just how much that song has meant to them.”

“We would like to thank everyone who voted for us,” responded Chris Freeman. “We’ve been doing this for a long time and to still receive recognition is such a humbling experience for us. God has been good to us, and we know that He still has His hand on this ministry. We are looking forward to many more years singing His praises!”

Chris Freeman was also nominated for the Naomi Sego Living Legend Award. However, Jeanette Cooke (The Singing Cookes) was named this year’s recipient.

“There is no one that I could be happier about winning that award than Jeanette,” mentioned Chris. “She has been such an inspiration to me and my family for many many years. We are so excited that she has finally received the recognition that she so richly deserves!”

The winners and nominees in the SGM FanFair Awards were chosen by the readers of Christian Voice Magazine and attendees of the SGM FanFair.  The winners for the awards were announced last night, Thursday, May 6, 2010, at the Smoky Mountain Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee at the 6th Annual SGM FanFair.

The Freemans have been in the studio working on the follow-up to the award-winning Eyes On the Prize album.  More information will be released on that at a later date.

The Freemans Nominated for 3 SGM FanFair Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southern Gospel favorites The Freemans were recently greeted with news that they have been nominated for three SGM FanFair Awards. The SGM FanFair Awards nominees were announced this week in a press release announcement.

The Freemans collectively received a nomination for Favorite Song of the Year (for their #1 hit “Three Rugged Crosses”). Meanwhile, group matriarch Chris Freeman landed two individual nominations – Favorite Alto and Naomi Sego Living Legend Award.

“We are absolutely honored to be nominated for these awards,” mentioned Chris Freeman. “We’ve been on the road a long time, and it’s such a blessing to know that we have such great friends who continue to support this ministry! Thanks to all who placed a voted for us!”

The Freemans Honored with 4 SGN Music Award Nominations

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Popular Southern Gospel artist The Freemans were honored last week to receive four nominations in the 2010 SGN Music Awards.  Nominees were announced last Thursday on SoGospelNews.com – host of the popular awards program.

The Freemans received nominations in a variety of categories.  The group’s Top 10 hit – “Three Rugged Crosses” – earned the family their third consecutive nomination for Country Song of the Year (the group won the award in 2008 for the record-breaking #1 hit “He Chose Me”).  Group patriarch Darrell Freeman also landed his third consecutive nomination for Producer of the Year (Artist).  The group’s Christmas release – Christmas Memories – received a nomination for Special Event Project of the Year. Ralph Freeman Funeral Arrangements Announced

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Ralph Freeman, father of Darrell Freeman and founder of award-winning Gospel group The Freemans, passed away this past Sunday, August 30, 2009.  Ralph was 77 years old.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:

Ralph Freeman's funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Mount Harvest Church of God, Rt 113 in Milan, Ohio.  The viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Groff Funeral Home on Perkins Ave in Sandusky, Ohio.  Viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.  Flowers can be sent to the Groff Funeral Home.

The Freemans issued this statement:  "We appreciate your prayers during this very trying time in our family. Losing loved ones is an inevitable part of living in this word, but it's never an easy aspect of this life to deal with. Your prayers mean more to us during this time than ever before."

Darrell Freeman's Father Passes Away

We received word that Ralph Freeman, father of The Freeman's Darrell Freeman, passed away this weekend.  More details, such as funeral arrangements, will be released when we receive them.  Arrangements were still being prepared as of this afternoon.

Singer/Songwriter Misty Freeman and Husband Bryce Welcome Baby Girl to Family!

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bryce and Misty (Freeman) Calloway are excited to announce the addition of their first child to their growing family.

Adelaide Rose Calloway was born on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 1:25 p.m. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 20 inches long.

Misty said, “She has the cutest head of black curly hair – just like her Daddy! Bryce and I are so excited to welcome this baby girl into our family. She is such a precious part of the Calloway household. We appreciate your prayers for us during my pregnancy, and now, even more with a newborn in the house!”

Misty and Baby Adelaide will be coming home today, July 23, 2009.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Popular Southern Gospel artist The Freemans are excited to announce that several live recordings from the group’s early career are now available for a limited time in special volume sets.

The award-winning family is re-releasing six live CDs and DVDs that were released between 1988 and 1996.

The live releases are available in two-release special volumes and are sold at a discounted rate.  Each volume comes with the CD and DVD releases.

The re-releases now available include 1988’s We Have Arrived Live & 1990’s Bring Back the Good Ole Days (Special Volume 1), 1992’s Almost Home Live In West Virginia & 1994’s Victory Live (Special Volume 2), and 1995’s In a Blaze of Glory & 1996’s Gettin’ Out the Good Stuff Live (Special Volume 3).  

“We’ve had several requests for these releases on CD and DVD, and we are happy to finally make them available to family and friends,” mentioned Darrell Freeman, patriarch of the popular group.  “There’s some great music that we don’t stage anymore on these DVDs.  We encourage everyone to pick up their copies!”

For the month of May, friends, family and fans can purchase all three Special Volume sets for $55.00.  That price includes all six live CDs and DVDs.  After the month of May, the price will increase.

“Three Rugged Crosses” has been having a resounding impact at Southern Gospel radio. The Freemans Earn Multiple Nods in 2009 SGN Music Awards

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Popular Southern Gospel artist The Freemans have earned multiple nods in this year’s SGN Music Awards.

The family group received a collective nomination in the Country/Bluegrass Song of the Year category for their hit song “Cast In the Sea.”

In addition, group patriarch Darrell Freeman landed his second consecutive Producer of the Year (Artist) nomination. He was also nominated in the Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year category for his production work on Misty Freeman’s project What If I’m Right?

In addition to landing in the Country/Bluegrass Album of the Year category, group member and popular soloist Misty Freeman landed her first nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year, and her single “Cinderella” was also nominated for Country/Bluegrass Song of the Year.
